Zhao Xintong to become snooker's new world number one after Wuhan Open win

Zhao Xintong beat Neil Robertson 5-1 in the Wuhan Open quarter-finals on 27 August 2026 and will become snooker's new world number one, ending Judd Trump's two-year reign. The 2025 world champion compiled breaks of 106, 91, 113 and 54 in a straight shoot-out for the top ranking. Zhao is only the second Chinese player to reach number one, after Ding Junhui in 2014–15.
