Dolly Parton dead at 80 after brief cancer battle

Dolly Parton died on Aug. 25 at age 80 after a brief cancer battle, Billboard reported. Her nephew and head of security, Bryan Seaver, announced the death in a video statement. Parton's husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, died less than 18 months earlier. On Aug. 27, sister Stella Parton said Dolly had told doctors to try experimental drugs to help future patients, even with no hope of recovery. No further medical details have been disclosed.
