
Crown Prince Haakon Assumes Regency as King Harald V's Condition Called "Extremely Serious"
King Harald V of Norway, 89, is in "extremely serious" condition at Oslo University Hospital after ten days of treatment for complications from hemolytic anemia. Crown Prince Haakon, 53, has assumed all constitutional duties as regent indefinitely. All royal engagements are canceled. Queen Sonja and Princess Astrid joined Haakon at the king's bedside.
