ICC qualification revives Guernsey's 2028 T20 World Cup hopes

Guernsey's hopes of reaching the 2028 T20 World Cup are alive again after the ICC overhauled its qualification pathway. In 2024, Guernsey won all four group matches in qualifying — beating Sweden, Malta and Austria — only to be eliminated by a single play-off defeat. Their qualifying campaign resumes in 2027 for the tournament co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand. Thomson said the side "absolutely deserves" to be in the next round.
