Tato Architects rotates Kyoto house in plan to carve four wedge-shaped gardens
Tato Architects' House in Shichiku in Kyoto, Japan, rotates a gabled form in plan, creating four wedge-shaped gardens at its edges so each room has outdoor access. Founder Yo Shimada said the site held the client's childhood home and a mature tree the studio wanted to keep. Full-height ground-floor windows face the angular gardens.
