Former PlayStation Studios head Yoshida praises Xbox disc-to-digital program

Former PlayStation Studios president Shuhei Yoshida, who spent over 30 years at Sony before retiring in 2024, wrote "A great move by team Xbox :)" on X on 26 August 2026. Xbox's program grants a digital licence when a disc is inserted, enabling play across Xbox, PC and cloud streaming without the disc. Sony has announced no equivalent ahead of its January 2028 disc-production cutoff.
