Delap's gamble that cost him a winners' medal and his Chelsea place

Liam Delap pulled out of last summer's Under-21 European Championship — which England went on to win — to stay for Chelsea's Club World Cup campaign. It delivered no trophies and, ultimately, no squad place. Chelsea gave his number nine shirt to Joao Pedro before sanctioning his exit. Nottingham Forest signed him for around £50m.
