ITV freezes commissioning strategy through 2028 as Sky's £1.6bn takeover awaits regulators

ITV managing director Kevin Lygo told the Edinburgh TV Festival on 26 August 2026 that commissioning for 2027 and most of 2028 stays unchanged while regulators review Sky's £1.6bn ($2.1bn) takeover of ITV's Media & Entertainment division. Completion is expected in H2 2027, per ITV's half-year report. Sky and ITV cannot discuss post-deal plans, including jobs, until clearance.
