Ubisoft shipped Heroes of Might and Magic III on Steam with no game files

Ubisoft's 26 August 2026 Steam re-release of Heroes of Might and Magic III — priced at US$10 with both expansions — contained only a 23.49 KB dummy executable. Launching it opened a command prompt reading "Dummy executable ensure that you are on the right Steam branch." Ubisoft replaced the file with the actual game close to 11 hours later and has not commented on the mix-up.
