DMX Estate Serves Cease-and-Desist to DJ Superior Over Unreleased Recordings and Lyric Sheets

DMX's estate sent cease-and-desist letters to his longtime friend DJ Superior (Michael Murray) to stop him auctioning unreleased recordings, handwritten lyric sheets and VHS tapes, Billboard reports. Estate lawyers warned a streaming release would trigger a copyright lawsuit. Murray says he co-recorded the material with DMX in Yonkers in the late 1980s and wants a release deal. The estate calls him "unreasonable."
