Chile Selects Manuela Martelli's 'The Meltdown' for Oscar Submission

Chile's Film Academy selected Manuela Martelli's sophomore feature "The Meltdown" as its Best International Feature Film submission for the 99th Academy Awards, per The Hollywood Reporter. The film, set in 1992 post-Pinochet Chile, premiered in Cannes' Un Certain Regard and opens domestically on September 3. Kino Lorber plans a U.S. theatrical run in early 2027; Mubi holds streaming rights.
