Gwangju Biennale restores "Taiwan Pavilion" name after ten-day standoff

The Gwangju Biennale Foundation restored the name "Taiwan Pavilion" for its 2026 edition, Artnews reported on 26 August. The Foundation had unilaterally renamed it "NTMoFA Pavilion" earlier in August. Taiwanese artists accused the change of political censorship; Taiwan's Ministry of Culture formally protested. The Foundation has not publicly explained either the renaming or its reversal.
