VES Awards adds first category for short-form and social media visual effects

The Visual Effects Society has added Outstanding Visual Effects in a Short Project to its 25th VES Awards, covering photoreal and animated works up to 45 minutes — including music videos, native social media content, and experimental films. Submissions open September 15 and close October 31 for projects released in calendar 2026. Nominations are announced January 19, 2027; the ceremony is February 17, 2027.
