Thailand selects '9 Temples to Heaven' for Oscar international feature race

Thailand's MPC has selected Sompot Chidgasornpongse's debut solo feature '9 Temples to Heaven' as its submission for the 99th Academy Awards' international feature category. A committee chose the Cannes Directors' Fortnight film from 51 eligible titles. Thailand has sent 33 entries since 1984 without a nomination. The 99th Oscars ceremony is set for 14 March 2027 (Variety, 26 August 2026).
