Mondrian's Composition III, estimated £20–30 million, to auction for the first time

Christie's announced on 26 August 2026 that Piet Mondrian's Composition III (1920), estimated £20–30 million, will appear in its 20th/21st Century: London Evening Sale on 14 October 2026, during Frieze Week. The canvas has never been to auction. Five of the eight paintings Mondrian completed that year are in museums; this is one of three still privately held. The last comparable European Mondrian sale was at Christie's Paris in 2009, from the Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé collection.
