Elgar alone: the only batsman to carry his bat twice in one year

Dean Elgar is the only batsman in Test history to carry his bat twice in a single calendar year — batting through a completed innings not out while wickets fall at the other end. He did so three times in his career, including an unbeaten 141 against Australia at Cape Town in 2018. Across 86 Tests, the South Africa opener scored 5,347 runs and 14 centuries.
