Netflix orders 'Jonny Boy,' a five-episode Top Boy prequel starring Barry Keoghan

Netflix has greenlit 'Jonny Boy,' a five-episode Top Boy prequel produced by Cowboy Films. Barry Keoghan reprises Jonny McGee, the Irish drug partner introduced in Top Boy's 2023 final season. Ronan Bennett returns as creator-writer. Ali Abbasi directs; filming begins in 2027. Anne Mensah announced the order at the Edinburgh TV Festival (The Hollywood Reporter, 26 August 2026).
