Meta and attorneys general from four states have discussed settling the first federal bellwether case over social media harm to children. A bellwether case is a representative lawsuit used to gauge outcomes for many similar claims. Trial opened August 17, 2026. No terms are set. A deal would end proceedings before any verdict on whether Meta's engagement features constitute deliberate harm to minors.
