Undead Labs announced closed beta playtests for State of Decay 3 before the end of 2026, via Xbox Wire on August 26. The playtests build on closed alpha sessions that began in April 2026. The 2027 launch across Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PlayStation 5 is unchanged. Microsoft cut 1,600 jobs and separated from four studios including Undead Labs; Xbox said a new buyer has been found but unnamed. Whether State of Decay 3 still enters Game Pass on day one is unclear.
