Gawn's ninth All-Australian blazer puts him clear of the game's greats

Melbourne ruckman Max Gawn, 34, has been named to a record ninth All-Australian team and appointed captain of the 2026 side. His ninth selection moves him clear of the eight won by Gary Ablett Snr and Jnr, Patrick Dangerfield, Lance Franklin, Robert Harvey and Mark Ricciuto. Gawn credited the late Jim Stynes as a mentor. Adelaide's Jordan Dawson was named vice-captain.
