National Gallery of Art names sitter in 1972 Brathwaite portrait after 54 years
The National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. has retitled a 1972 Kwame Brathwaite photograph to identify the sitter as Manasie Ree Horn, a model from Mobile, Alabama. A cousin of Horn's son spotted the image at the Getty Center in Los Angeles and confirmed the match. Horn died in 2002, three decades before her name was added.
