Hawley's hostage-recovery drama The Envoy moves from Hulu to HBO Max

Alexi Hawley's The Envoy is in development at HBO Max after entering turnaround — meaning the original platform released it — from Hulu, where it was set up in August 2024. The drama, inspired by State Department envoy Roger Carstens, whose team brought home 70 American hostages, landed at HBO Max in spring 2026, per Deadline. Hawley executive produces with P3 Media's Adam Ciralsky and Gene Klein, and Carstens himself.
