Scorsese Agrees to Become Honorary President of Italy's David di Donatello Academy
Martin Scorsese has agreed to become honorary president of the David di Donatello Academy of Italian Cinema, Italy's equivalent of the Oscars, the body that runs the David di Donatello Awards. The role was proposed by Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli, who said few filmmakers embody the connection between Italian tradition and cinema history like Scorsese. The Academy's approval is described as a formality. (Variety, ANSA, 25 August 2026)
