'I Love Lucy' named inaugural recipient of Television Academy's Legacy Award

The Television Academy has selected 'I Love Lucy' as the first recipient of its Legacy Award, created in January 2026 to honour programmes whose cultural impact has outlasted their original broadcasts. Academy chair Cris Abrego said the show "helped define what television could be." The award will be presented on 6 September during the 78th Emmy Awards.
