Rugby league's first-ever knight: Sir Billy Boston dies aged 92

Sir Billy Boston, who in 2025 became the first player in rugby league's 130-year history to receive a knighthood, has died aged 92. Boston scored 478 tries in 488 games for Wigan after joining from Cardiff in 1953. Rugby league split from union in 1895 over player payments and had never before had a knight.
