
Rugby league great Sir Billy Boston dies aged 92
Sir Billy Boston, described by BBC Sport as one of rugby league's greatest players of all time, has died aged 92 in hospital in Wigan. Born in Cardiff's Tiger Bay, he crossed codes from amateur union to professional league and settled in Wigan for 72 years. Wigan Warriors confirmed: "The whole of Rugby League are devastated." His wife, Lady Joan, died in July 2026.
