Indian studio completes Kerala hillside farmhouse built from black granite and Mangalore tiles
Evolving Radical Aesthetics has completed Ushas, a farmhouse in the Malabar hills near Kozhikode, Kerala, designed for a retired couple who relocated from Andhra Pradesh. Three staggered volumes follow the slope, built from locally sourced black granite with a roof of corrugated steel and traditional Mangalore tiles. An open-air temple is carved into a retaining wall; a glazed room serves for practising the veena.
