Race Across the World contestant Jo Gardiner dies at 61 after cancer battle

Jo Gardiner, who raced across Latin America with her son Sam in series two of BBC's Race Across the World (Studio Lambert), has died at 61 after what her family called a "long and courageous battle with cancer," per Deadline. The pair finished fourth. Her death followed Sam's fatal car crash on the A34 near Manchester in May 2025, aged 24. She is survived by her son Charlie.
