Amateur, 64, fires eight birdies in nine holes — one short of PGA Tour record
Allan Harrison, a 64-year-old English amateur with a 0.4 handicap, carded eight birdies in nine holes — seven consecutive — on the back nine at Fairhaven Golf Club, Lancashire. The run ended at the par-three 17th, where a misread putt left him one shy of the PGA Tour record of nine straight birdies (Calcavecchia, 2009; Chappell, 2019). England Golf put the odds for a player of his handicap at one in 455,000. Harrison had been four over after the front nine; he finished second in the Silver Pheasant stableford.
