Shen Teng's war comedy-drama "Once Upon a Time in the Middle East" held No. 1 at the mainland China box office for a second straight weekend, earning $43.9 million across Aug. 21–23 per Artisan Gateway data reported by Variety. The Dirty Monkeys production, directed by Wen Muye, has grossed $232.2 million since its Aug. 11 launch, crossing 1 billion yuan in its first week alone per the South China Morning Post.
