Dr. Dre says he is using AI in his own music and dismisses its critics

Dr. Dre told The New York Times, in an interview published 23 August 2026, that he runs his own music through AI, calling it "a new tool for creativity" and comparing resistance to the skepticism that greeted drum machines and synthesisers. He said the only people who see AI as a threat are "the people who have trouble creating." Jimmy Iovine, his Beats co-founder, said "a lot of closet AI producers" are using the technology without admitting it.
