The 2026 domestic box office — the United States and Canada — crossed $7 billion on August 23, Rentrak data reported by Deadline shows. That is 20% above the same 2025 period ($5.86 billion). If the pace holds, the year closes near $10.6 billion, the strongest since 2019's $11.4 billion. The best post-Covid year, 2023, finished at $9 billion.
