Kejelcha reclaims half marathon world record with 56:51 in Buenos Aires

Yomif Kejelcha ran 56:51 to win the Media Maratón Ciudad de Buenos Aires on 23 August 2026, reclaiming the men's half marathon world record by 29 seconds over Jacob Kiplimo's 57:20 from Lisbon in March. The time, subject to World Athletics ratification, is the fastest half marathon ever run. Kiplimo had taken the record from Kejelcha, who first set it at 57:30 in Valencia in October 2024.
