Infinity Ward reduced enemy footstep and gear audio volume and audible range in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta's first major update on 22 August 2026, two days after the Early Access beta opened. "We heard you loud and clear on the footstep volume, so we've adjusted things downward," the studio wrote. The same complaint arose in the 2022 Modern Warfare 2 beta.
