Double Fine regains IP and publishing rights to all Xbox-era games

Double Fine confirmed on 22 August 2026 that it owns, or will shortly own, the IP and publishing rights to every game it made under Xbox. CEO Tim Schafer said on the Kinda Funny Games podcast, "The IP came back to us." Some titles remain with Xbox as the transfer processes. The studio became independent again on 6 July 2026 after Xbox's restructuring cut roughly 3,200 roles.
