Child Malnutrition Rises 32% in Somalia as Aid Cuts Force Health Facilities to Close
UNICEF reports a 32% rise in Somali children admitted with severe acute malnutrition in early 2026. Over 200 health facilities have shut after international aid cuts; up to 618 more could close. The US excluded Somalia from its $2 billion aid pledge over corruption allegations. Nearly 1.9 million children face malnutrition this year.
