Jenny Simpson steps away from running after cardiac arrest diagnosed as ARVC

Jenny Simpson, 39, announced she will never run again after suffering cardiac arrest at a North Carolina track event in June 2026. Diagnosed with arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy — heart muscle replaced by fatty and fibrous tissue — she wrote: "That chapter has ended. Thankfully, my story hasn't." The 2011 world 1500m champion was released from hospital in late July.
