Bacio wins Nunthorpe Stakes at York for Wesley Ward's first success in the race

Bacio, trained by Wesley Ward and ridden by Juan Hernandez, made all over five furlongs to win the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York on 21 August 2026 by a length and a quarter from eighteen runners. It was Ward's first Nunthorpe success after Acapulco and Lady Aurelia both finished second. Ward watched from Keeneland; Bacio is now aimed at the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint there on 31 October.
