Director of Oscar-Nominated 'The Voice of Hind Rajab' Calls Israel's Criminal Probe 'a Smokescreen'

Kaouther Ben Hania, director of the Oscar-nominated docudrama "The Voice of Hind Rajab," has dismissed Israel's newly announced criminal investigation into the killing of five-year-old Hind Rajab as "a smokescreen," Variety reported on 21 August 2026. The IDF announced the probe on 19 August, more than two years after the January 2024 killing. Ben Hania called for justice from an independent authority instead.
