Blyton's 1943 'Magic Faraway Tree' gets a Minecraft-and-smart-fridge update, in cinemas August 21

Claire Foy and Andrew Garfield star in 'The Magic Faraway Tree,' a Ben Gregor-directed adaptation of Enid Blyton's 1943 novel, opening Friday, August 21. The Simon Farnaby screenplay updates the source: a child wishes to become a Minecraft character, and Judi Dench voices a spying smart fridge. The Hollywood Reporter's review calls it "too imaginative for its own good."
