UMG-backed Music IP Holdings unveils AI music patents, signs Udio and GRAI as first licensees

Music IP Holdings, formed by Universal Music Group and Liquidax Capital, unveiled over 24 AI music creation patents on 20 August 2026, with 50 more pending, and licensed them to AI music platform Udio and GRAI, a Khosla Ventures-backed social streaming service. The patents cover watermarked, trackable AI-generated content across platforms. Daniel Drolet leads MIH as CEO.
