Yahya Abdul-Mateen II told Vanity Fair "the optics are obvious" after Disney and Marvel cancelled Wonder Man — renewed then reversed — and stalled the Blade reboot, both Black-led projects. The Emmy-nominated actor urged the studio to change the narrative "with quality stories, with quality resources." Blade, announced with Mahershala Ali in 2019, has no production start.
