Belgium's new prince keeps mother's surname over royal house name Saxe-Coburg

Prince Laurent of Belgium formally recognised his 26-year-old son Clément Vandenkerckhove, making him a prince by right — but with no royal allowance and no place in the line of succession. Clément told Nieuwsblad he is proud of the Vandenkerckhove name and would consider renouncing it a betrayal of his mother. He is not expected to adopt the Saxe-Coburg family name.
