Charles Melton in final negotiations for Kakashi role in Lionsgate's live-action Naruto

Charles Melton is in final negotiations to play Kakashi Hatake, the ninja mentor in Masashi Kishimoto's manga, in Lionsgate's live-action Naruto film, The Hollywood Reporter reports on 20 August 2026. Destin Daniel Cretton writes and directs; Avi Arad, Ari Arad, Emmy Yu and Jeremy Latcham produce. The title role remains unfilled. Production targets February 2027. Lionsgate had no comment.
