The Duke and Duchess of Sussex intend to relocate from California to a non-royal residence outside London with their two children before the September school term, the Telegraph reported on 19 August 2026. The newspaper stated there are no current plans for either to resume working royal roles. Buckingham Palace has issued no formal statement. No meeting with the King appears in the Court Circular. The New York Times reported the move appears to have caught King Charles III by surprise.
