'The Odyssey' surpasses 'Deadpool & Wolverine' as highest-grossing R-rated film ever

Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" has grossed $1.352 billion worldwide, overtaking "Deadpool & Wolverine" ($1.338 billion) as the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, Variety reported on 20 August 2026. Released 17 July, it has taken $516 million domestically — the United States and Canada — and $835 million internationally. Only "Joker" previously crossed $1 billion with an R rating.
