Publisher-Coordination Firms Appeal Exclusion From Anthropic Fee Award

Edelson and Oppenheim + Zebrak, the publishers' coordination counsel in the $1.5 billion Anthropic copyright settlement, filed a Ninth Circuit appeal on August 19, 2026, one day before the deadline. They challenge their exclusion from the roughly $101 million in attorneys' fees the district court awarded — less than half the $187 million class counsel sought.
