Former HarperCollins UK chief Eddie Bell dies at 77

Eddie Bell, who led HarperCollins UK as chairman and chief executive before co-founding the literary agency Bell Lomax Moreton, has died at 77. The Bookseller reported his death on 20 August 2026. Bell's career spanned both sides of the trade — the publisher's desk and the author's agency. June Bell co-founded the agency with him.
