Pro Ref shows players last season's unpunished holds — now penalties under 2026/27 guidelines

England's referees' body, Pro Ref, is visiting every Premier League club's training ground this summer to show players clips of incidents that went unpunished last season but will now be penalties. Two examples shown: Brentford's Keane Lewis-Potter wrestling West Ham's Tomas Soucek, and Sunderland's Luke O'Nien dragging down Leeds' Pascal Struijk by the neck. Both are now classed as "non-footballing holding actions that have no place on the football pitch." Howard Webb said grey-area calls remain the referee's judgment on the field, not a VAR intervention.
