Root and Cox steer England to 112-2, 59 behind Pakistan after rain-hit day two at Headingley

Rain curtailed day two of the first Test at Headingley (19–23 August 2026), but England reached 112 for 2 in reply to Pakistan's 171. Root, back as captain, and Cox were unbeaten at stumps, trailing by 59. Robinson and Tongue had each taken five wickets as Pakistan collapsed from 117-3 to 171 all out.
